These simple mats are a great small project. ![]() These have been listed in Rachel’s Etsy shop, but as with many wonderful ideas found these days, feel free to use them as inspiration for your own creation of Tic Tac Toe. Perfect for an end table in a living room, you think? I attempted a bit of coordination with Rachel’s Xs and Os, but since scrappy is usually my favorite form of design, I didn’t get too matchy matchy. I made three different versions of patchwork mats pictured below. Rachel found some mint green tins for storage and wrapped them all up nicely in a burlap bag. I created some patchwork mats with many of my favorite fabrics, and Rachel designed some small birch slices appropriate for playing this common game. She had a grand idea to combine two delightful forms of handicraft to make an extraordinarily cute rendition of a simple Tic Tac Toe game. They’re an absolutely charming addition to rustic home decor. She makes beautifully designed birch slices. Rachel has been a favorite addition to my Instagram feed this last year. Rachel, from Courage and Birch, sent me a message a couple months ago. When this handmade Tic Tac Toe project came to life, I thought it could be a sweet gift to a grandmother who always played Tic Tac Toe with her grandkids. If we wanted to win, we had to learn to play well. As a result, he raised some very good checker players in his granddaughters. ![]() I remember clearly, too, that grandpa always played to win. I used to play it with my grandpa as a very young girl. We have a history of checkers in our family. I’m bringing a bit of inspiration to you today.
